libby at 17 months

oh, this face kills me. my sweet libby.

at 17 months there are two things that are part of our life every day: winnie the pooh and pinkalicious books. she does not just love these things, she is OBSESSED with these things. we have a copy of the newest pooh movie in the blu ray player at home, and a copy in the dvd player in the car. she has been watching it over and over and has yet to tire of it. i think it's a sweet thing for her to like because pooh reminds me of her. my mom even pointed out that she walks like pooh - a cute little wobble. and we have about 5 of the pinkalicious books, which are actually hannah's, but libby has taken them over. we've only read them all about a million times. i try to read other books, and she will push them out of my hand and bring me a pinkalicious one.

another thing she loves is shoes. we have a box full of shoes near the front door, and she runs to it and will bring me a shoe or two and INSIST on wearing them, first thing in the morning.

she answers questions by nodding or shaking her head. this is so amazing to me because i don't remember hannah doing it. i really feel like she understands everything we say to her now. which means that now she's in the beginning stages of starting to push her limits! she does like to test me occasionally to see if i'm really serious when i say no. she can be really insistent about what she wants. like this morning i gave her a vitamin. she can only have one so when she wanted another i had to tell her no, and she kept pointing to them on the counter and grunting. finally i had to hide them and put her attention on something else... probably pooh!

favorite foods - she still loves every kind of bread, black beans, applesauce, yogurt and mandarin oranges. she likes bananas, as long as you keep the peel halfway on and let her eat it like a big girl. and CHEESE! oh, she goes crazy for cheese, it's the first thing she looks for when she finds the fridge door open. words - she knows tons and will try to repeat almost any word. she has way more words than i could possibly list here. teeth - middle four on top and bottom, and she's getting a few back teeth now. we think the teething has caused her to have diaper rash, just like it did with hannah, and she's been very uncomfortable this past week.

she has peed on the potty twice - mostly by accident. we have a little pooh potty that we put over the lid of the big potty, and she will sit on it just because her favorite bear is there.

she's started climbing into her booster seat at the table when she's hungry. and she takes her plate to the sink after meal time.

i ask her who's the baby and she will point to her cheek and say "baby." she gives the best hugs, with her arms wrapped tightly around my head, and she gives kisses sometimes though usually to things like books and stuffed animals. i feel really lucky if i ask her for a kiss and actually get one.

easter, part 3

easter morning the girls woke up to their buckets that the easter bunny filled. they got stickers, paints, play-doh, books, pajamas, toothbrushes, bunny plates and cups... but libby focused on the candy. she even found a plate, put her chocolate on it, and took it to the table for breakfast. so we did have eggs for breakfast, but chocolate ones! then after church, we had a nice relaxing day at home.

easter, part 2

downtown has a fun easter egg hunt for kids, and this is our second year going. this year we waited in line to get the girls' picture with the easter bunny. i suspected that libby might cry and be upset at having to sit in his lap, but she went right to him and seemed to love it. we decided that since she loves cuddling stuffed animals, she loved a big stuffed animal-looking thing cuddling her. hannah, on the other hand, was the one who didn't want to cooperate. she wanted nothing to do with it, but we finally got her to stand just close enough to take a quick picture. the fountain was dyed yellow, and there were eggs scattered everywhere. afterward, it was such a pretty day that we decided to grab some food and take it to the park.

easter, part 1

libby has been a bit sick lately with an ear infection and teething, so we stayed home this easter weekend, but we still had fun celebrating. on friday we had our second egg hunt in the backyard with a neighbor friend, then we came inside to dye eggs.

spring break

the girls and i had a great little spring break visiting my parents last week. it's always a real vacation to be with them and to let them love on the girls and take care of me too a little. love when mom washes my clothes and allows me uninterrupted time to take a shower - rare treats! we have so much fun together. we went to a cute train depot downtown that the girls loved, went shopping at bridgestreet where the girls enjoyed the carousel, played in the park, and just all around enjoyed the beautiful weather.

school easter egg hunt

at hannah's preschool today, the kids sang a cute song about jelly beans, then we had a brunch and the rain held off for us to have an egg hunt outside. libby enjoyed sitting among the big girls, pretending to be one of them. and since she's a natural cleaner / organizer, she liked picking up the eggs and putting them in her bucket. hannah walked along and checked out what was in each egg, only collecting the ones she was interested in.
