pizza, baseball, rainbows and fireworks

tim's birthday was saturday and we had a great day. i made him a birthday breakfast casserole, we did some shopping, and then we went to montgomery later in the afternoon after hannah's nap. we made a stop at our favorite pizza place, tomatinos, and then went to a biscuits game. hannah had a blast chasing around other kids and we had a blast watching her. she liked hanging out with the big boys, even if she was getting on their nerves. how is she to know that 8 year old boys don't want to be pulled on or hugged? she even chatted it up with the baseball players on the other team. she was so funny. it was a perfect family night, and there were even fireworks after the game.

hope you had a great birthday, tim! we love you!

at tomatinos
hannah spotted this rainbow from the car window. it was much bigger and prettier than it looks.
daddy took her to get a biscuits stamp on her hand, and she was so proud of it
this is the smile she wore all night

first day of preschool

today was hannah's first day of preschool. she will be going every tuesday and thursday from 8:15 til 12:30. she was excited to go this morning, and i think she did really well. she was crying when i went to pick her up and told me she was crying because she "wanted her momma back." her teacher said she was a good girl and she had fun with the other kids. i'm thankful that we are able to send her to school this year, i think it's time for her to be with other kids and have that time away from home. i'm excited for her but also a little sad to see her looking all grown up.

i tried to take some pictures of her outside, but as soon as we stepped out the door my lens fogged up from the humidity.

this isn't the best picture, but this is right after she ran away from us and we had to try to steal kisses and tell her bye quickly before she disappeared again.

pictures by mari wilkes

we got together with another local photographer for a photo swap tuesday. my friend mari wilkes is very talented, and we had so much fun hanging out with her. i put my watermark on these just for protection, but she took them and i edited them. i'm so grateful to her for taking these pictures. i don't think we had one good family picture all together before this! i'm always behind the camera! and she got some great expressions out of hannah. i love seeing my favorite subject through the eyes of someone else.

birthday celebrations, part 4

yesterday we had hannah's two good neighborhood friends over and their families. it was SO fun to see the girls play together. hannah had such a great time. there's few things she loves more than having company and eating cake. after everyone left we cleaned up a bit and hannah and tim crashed on the couch. now she never falls asleep like this, so i guess she was pretty tired.

birthday celebrations, part 3

on hannah's actual birthday, the 10th, we had the most fun family day. we did all things that hannah loves. we started the day with cheese toast and an egg, and she asked me to put a candle in it so of course i did. a little while later, she and tim went to turn in some things for preschool, which she'll be starting next week. she loves it there, and the teacher even gave her a sticker and a book. then he took her to target to pick out a toy, and to burger king for lunch. they came home and relaxed a bit, and we gave hannah her birthday gift - a princess jeep, which she was pretty thrilled about. she played with it in the kitchen for a while, then we headed out to the movies and saw despicable me. she loved it and sat still and watched the whole thing. and ate a whole bag of popcorn! we had dinner at ihop since one of her favorite things is pancakes and ended the evening at the tuesday concert in the park. by the end of the day she was totally exhausted but totally happy. a perfect birthday!

birthday celebrations, part 2

on the 7th we traveled to atlanta for a wedding. hannah had the time of her life at the reception dancing with another little girl. the next day we went to the aquarium.

i was kicking myself all day for not bringing in my dslr. just didn't want to have to lug around those extra 10+ pounds but i could have gotten much better pictures. i do love this one that i took while we were taking a break and eating lunch. hannah liked the other kids that were around better than the fish! she found several kids to run around with while tim and i got to sit for a little bit and watch the beluga whales, my favorite.

birthday celebrations, part 1

hannah's third birthday was on the 10th but we've been celebrating all month long! we started july 31st with a trip to the birmingham zoo. there we met my parents and our friends arron, stevie, and leah. it was HOT but we had a great time. i think hannah's favorite part was feeding leaves to the giraffes. afterward, we went out for lunch and had a milkshake to cool down.
