fashionista

so i put hannah in jeans the other day:

and ALL day all she could talk about was taking off the pants and putting on a skirt. i told her that it was kind of cool outside and she needed to keep them on while we were running errands. she said, "okay, but when i get home i put a skirt on?"

tonight, as i was trying to tell her good night and say our prayers, she was trying to plan her outfit for school. she said she wants to wear a pink shirt and a skirt. and she was telling me about outfits her friends wore last week.

oh and yesterday we went to kroger. when we passed a girl wearing shorts, she said very loudly, "why she not wearing any pants?"

so you see, she is kind of obsessed with clothes.

4 months

we took libby for her 4-month checkup earlier this week. she weighs 15 pounds 4 ounces (79.5 percentile) and is 25.5 inches long (84.3 percentile). the doctor found the beginnings of another ear infection in her right ear so we got more meds. she has been mostly back to her old self after our month of sickness, and has been a lot happier. we just hope she doesn't have to deal with anymore ear infections! this month she's making lots more sounds, showing us big smiles and laughing a little, rolling from her front to her back, and grabbing at everything she can and trying to put it in her mouth.

sisterly love

remember when i said we were  having a sick week? yeah, well, make that a sick month. after this month is over with, we will have made FIVE trips to the pediatrician's office. hannah came down with strep throat thursday. she laid down on the couch to take her first ever voluntary nap, so tim and i knew something was up. sure enough, she woke up with a 102-degree fever. so of course, we've been trying to get her to keep her distance from libby, and you'd think that that was the worst punishment ever for hannah. she definitely loves her baby sister. here are just a few pictures i've taken of them together over the past two months.

now i never asked hannah to "sit here and kiss your sister so i can take a picture." often times we are asking her, "why don't you try to back away from libby for a bit." today hannah was over the strep and libby seemed better than she's been in three weeks. hannah was very glad to be reunited with her baby sister. i hope they love each other like this forever.

sick day

...or week, i should say. i took libby to the doctor tuesday, and he found that she had ear infections in both ears. poor girl! no wonder she has not been herself lately. got a prescription, and today she seems a lot better. still not 100% but getting there. then, tuesday night, at 1 a.m. hannah got up with a fever of 102.7, so tim took her to the doctor on wednesday. the doctor wasn't sure what exactly she had but she got a prescription too, and hasn't had a fever since, thank goodness. we spent today in our pajamas watching movies, reading books (harold is a current favorite), and eating popsicles. it has been a hard week, seeing the girls sick, but now they are both asleep and on the mend.

our march so far...

in the past week we've spent a couple of warm afternoons in the back yard, picnicking and blowing bubbles.

hannah had dr. seuss day at school. she got to wear her pajamas (of course she chose her favorite hello kitty ones) and take a blanket to lay on and a couple of books to read. she said they had green eggs and ham and birthday cake since it was dr. seuss's birthday. and she was pretty proud of her cat face.

libby has been getting a little tummy time...

...and she's been working really hard at rolling from her back to her front. she should have it down in the next week or two. this week we were also left wondering what happened to our perfect sleeper. now i know with hannah, her schedule was constantly changing that first year. right when we thought we had a great routine down, she would decide that she didn't want to nap at 2 o'clock anymore, or whatever. but libby went from easily going to sleep at night and sleeping 9-hour stretches to fighting sleep and getting maybe 3 hours at a time. i think part of it is because she's starting to teeth, and she's also had an annoying stuffy nose. so we are hoping and praying this is just a (short) phase!
