current favorite breakfast: pancakes

we have gone through quite a few breakfast trends. at first, only a scrambled egg would do. then it was oatmeal every morning. then it was cheese toast. now we've moved on to pancakes. this morning, after she had already eaten four little ones, she sidled up to tim for a couple bites of his.

and here, again, is her sweet smile. i say, "hannah, let me see your sweet smile." and she gives me this. awww, cutest thing ever.

i've only been waiting almost three years to hear those four words! hannah was impressed with this big strawberry and actually asked me to take her picture last night. then she let me take a picture of her "sweet smile." oh, how i hope this will be a new daily occurrence.

things hannah loves, vol. 1

1. bubbles and hello kitty rain boots

two favorites in one picture! three if you count the fact that she also loves all things pink. she picked out this outfit herself. she loves those rain boots because she can slip them on easily. lately, the first thing she does when she wakes up is want to put her clothes and shoes on and go, go, go. i usually try to delay the go, go, going for as long as i can since i'm NOT a morning person.

2. octopuses (octopi?)

we watched the life series on the discovery channel, and hannah fell in LOVE with the scene of a female octopus taking care of her eggs. it was really cool to see the eggs hatch and the thousands of little transparent octopus babies float out into the water. tim picked out this octopus book for her as an easter present and she likes to look at the pictures.

3. anything sweet

never have i seen anyone love and enjoy cake and candy as much as this girl. actually, she saw me editing this picture and it prompted her to repeatedly say "want cake, want cake momma, pleeeeeaaaase."

4. other kids

she loves other kids, especially older girls, and she is so so sweet to them. she hugs and gives kisses and wants to hold hands, even if it's sometimes not what the other kid wants to do! we go to the park several times a week, and she always looks forward to going to church to play with the other kids.

callaway gardens

we went to callaway gardens tuesday with mimi and pops and spent the night. i wanted to get some pictures of hannah at sunset so we chased her around for a little while tuesday evening, and tried again on wednesday. she is quite a challenge to photograph. she never stops moving. and she pretty much refuses to look at my camera and smile. i took about 300 pictures while we were there, i tried so hard to get good ones of hannah, and i would say about half of them are blurry and the other half are at not-so-great angles. i did get this ONE that i really like:

now this is what i'm talking about, this is what most of my pictures look like. this is one series of pictures i took while she was dancing. never stops moving!

we did have a really great time, though! it was nice to get away for a little while, and the weather was perfect. the azaleas were in bloom and everthing was so pretty. tim and i decided we need to go there more often since it's such a short drive.

a day at the park

we spent a beautiful spring afternoon at monkey park last wednesday. hannah enjoyed picking up the dandelions and trying (key word) to blow the flurries away. she calls them "blow flowers" which i, of course, think is adorable. i want to remember all the cute and funny things like that that she does, which is why i'm starting this new blog. we've had a family blog in the past that we've seriously neglected, we even tried writing (with a pen! on paper!) in a journal. but eventually those efforts were abandoned as they proved to take up too much time. but since this blog is linked to my photography blog, i'm hoping it will be a little more convenient for me to pop in and post updates and pictures.
