tim's surprise party!

yesterday we had a surprise 30th birthday party for tim at brick oven pizza. i was so anxious about it because i was convinced that he already knew about it but i think i did manage to actually keep it a surprise. we had a party from 10 to 1 for one of hannah's friends at the pool, then i had to get us all home and dressed and ready to get to the restaurant. the party started at 2, so i had to aim to get us there at least five minutes after that. we were already running to late to everything that morning so it worked out okay. i didn't get many pictures but lots of friends and family were there and i think tim really enjoyed it!

tim turned 30 today! we tried hard to make it special. hannah wanted to hide and yell "surprise" when he walked in the door. i made hot dogs, homemade macaroni and cheese and a coke cake (with 30 candles, of course). i wrapped him up 30 gifts and the girls got him a card and drew on it. it is a big, important birthday and i hope he is proud of all that he's accomplished in his 30 great years! his family sure is proud of him.

first day of school!

well, it finally arrived, the day hannah's been waiting for!  her school day is from 7:40 to 2:45, so we will have to get used to early mornings. (it was also the day of tim's last CPA exam and he had to leave super super early, even before hannah woke up.) i got up at 6 and got ready before waking up hannah at 6:30. i made her a special breakfast of pancakes with a fruit face and whipped cream hair. gave her a first day of school gift of a charm bracelet with her first charm, a sparkly apple. i drove her to school and parked to walk her in, even though she wanted to walk in all by herself. when the kids go in they sit in a computer lab til their teacher comes to get them to walk them to the class, so i dropped hannah off there. but then i walked down the hall to wait so i could get a picture of her in her classroom.

we were glad to all go together to pick hannah up. we parked next door to the school and walked over to pick hannah up. she said she had a great day and is excited that she gets to go back tomorrow. she said her favorite part of the day was lunch.

meet the teacher

today was meet the teacher day at hannah's school, jeter primary school. her teacher is named Mrs. McDonald and she has about 18 students in her class. hannah is SO excited about starting kindergarten and she was happy to finally meet her teacher. she got to make a craft for outside of the classroom while i filled out paperwork, then mrs. mcdonald gave her a bag of animal crackers. we have a countdown going for the first day - only 4 more days. hannah can't wait.

all about the birthday girl

our girl is FIVE and about to start kindergarten. she's ready for school and doesn't seem nervous about it at all. she has grown so much in the past year. she's getting into really learning her numbers and letters now. she loves dressing herself and is pretty good at picking out things that mostly match. she loves having dance parties at home. she loves to smother her sister with hugs, and she loves to sing songs that she knows will get on libby's nerves. she loves to eat macaroni and cheese and strawberries and oatmeal. her favorite restaurant is chick-fil-a, and she also looooves chinese food. she's terrified of the flush of loud public toilets. she took swim lessons this summer and this school year she says she wants to do gymnastics instead of ballet. had her checkup earlier this week and she weighs 43 pounds and is 45 inches tall, they said she has 20/20 vision and is growing great. she had her first dentist appointment today and did great. she gets SO anxious about things like that but is starting to get a little better at talking things out together. she's sweet and smart and loving and strong-willed and she likes to have her day all planned out so that she knows exactly what to expect. here are a few more hannah facts, in her own words:

museum day

last thursday (the 9th) we met my friend from high school, stevie, and her two girls who are about the same age as hannah and libby. we met at kids section of the museum of fine arts in montgomery, and as you can tell from the pictures, the girls had a lot of fun playing together.
